Registered Piano Technician (RPT)
Having been a professional pianist for almost 50 years, I tune and service pianos from the musician's point of view. I bring my decades of performance experience to every piano I encounter. For the beginner and experienced player alike, there's nothing more satisfying than the sound of a properly tuned piano!
I am a member of the Piano Technicians Guild as a Registered Piano Technician (RPT), a designation afforded those members of the Guild who have passed a series of rigorous piano tuning and repair exams. I began my career as a piano tuner and technician in 1990 in Los Angeles as an apprentice to long-time Yamaha consultant and renowned piano technician and rebuilder, Richard Davenport, RPT. After moving to Portland in 1992, I worked extensively with Yamaha and other piano brands as a tuner and technician at Cascade Piano. In the years since, I have been affiliated with Sherman Clay/Moe's Pianos; Classic Pianos, Eastside Portland's premier piano retailer; and Portland Piano Co.
My client base has grown to well over 500, including individuals and families, recording studios, hotels, restaurants, schools and churches. Also, I have tuned pianos for such prominent performers as Lady Gaga, Harry Connick, Jr. and Pink Martini and at illustrious Portland performance venues, including the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and Keller Auditorium.
